Get messy

… cause that’s what artists do best, right? At Breathing Colours Studio in Balmain, there’s plenty of opportunity for your little artists to show their creative flair. From cartoon-inspired workshops to painting rainbows, there’s something to bring out the best from every imagination. Classes run for 2.5 hours and offer morning or afternoon sessions (or both if you’re keen). So wash off the paintbrushes and book a spot today.

Warm up

The Nexstar Sports people have your junior athlete covered. Winter sports camps are running at Croydon Public School in the first week of the holidays for primary school-aged kids (take advantage of the discount if you book two or more children!). The program is jam-packed with fun activities and games, plus, there’s a wet-weather indoor option so kids don’t miss out if it’s raining. It’s a winner.

Day trip!

If your kids can’t miss an opportunity to learn (even on holidays), TinkerTank is the place for the school break. As an Aussie first, “makerspace” is set up for all the kids to try anything and everything related to being creative, including coding and robotics. Based on the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) learning process, students invent, test, design and create in a multi-usable space. You have to go the extra mile for this one, but we’re sure the kids will thank you, just pick up a coffee from Canada Bay Club before the drive across the bridge.

Calling all Ronaldos

It’s prime soccer season and although your comp may be taking a break for the holidays, it doesn’t mean your little kickers have to. Balmain & District Football Club offers school holiday clinics across both weeks so our future football stars can spend their days with trained coaches, learning and practising new skills by the waterfront at Callan Park. (Meanwhile you can do the Bay Walk while the kids run around. Haven’t tried the Bay Walk before? Click here.)

Pack the popcorn

What’s better than a trip to the movies during the winter holidays! With new releases such as Despicable ME 3, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul and Mr Lightning McQueen himself returning in Cars 3, it’s time to book your tix now for that lazy holiday day, when you can sit back, relax and have a giggle with the kids for a couple of hours. Hoyts Cinemas have all session times and cinema options online, so booking is easy. Choosing which film to see however? We’ll leave that up to you…

Great heights

For the adventurous kids who want to scale great heights, take them to Rockcamp, tucked away under the roof of a mega warehouse in St Peters. They get to climb high, learning cool techniques along the way via interactive games and activities. It’s totally safe, heaps of fun and great for strength, agility and meeting new friends. Plus, they can get a kick out of being taller than mum and dad – even if only for a little while. Prices start at $49.50 per child, with half-day or full-day camps available.
